Fifth grade students from Woodland Elementary School in Milford will explore the science behind the James Webb Space Telescope by engaging in hands-on activities. Activities include, but are not limited to, working with mirrors and light reflections to discover how Webb's segmented mirrors will focus on dim space objects, learning about spectroscopy through diffraction gratings and gas tubes, and using origami to demonstrate how Webb will fold to fit in its rocket for launch.
